I’ve tested a lot of bedding over the years, and wool comforters are one of those things that sound weird until you actually try one. The Sleep & Beyond myMerino Comforter is their regular weight option, and its built for people who run hot but still want something cozy when it gets cold. Made with certified organic merino wool and wrapped in organic cotton sateen, this thing does temperature regulation better than most synthetic alternatives I’ve tried.
Quick note: this is the regular weight version, not the light. If you sleep warm year round, the light might be your pick. But if you deal with actual winter temps or keep your bedroom around 65 to 68 degrees, the regular weight hits a sweet spot.
What Makes This Comforter Different
Merino wool is naturally moisture wicking. Not in the marketing buzzword way that every polyester fill claims, but actually pulls moisture away from your body as you sleep. I noticed fewer middle of the night wake ups from feeling clammy, which is honestly the main reason I kept using it past the first week.
The organic cotton sateen shell feels smooth without being slippery. Its got a subtle sheen to it but nothing over the top. Stitching is tight with a baffle box construction that keeps the wool evenly distributed so you dont end up with cold spots after a few months.
Fill Material
Certified organic merino wool, naturally temperature regulating and moisture wicking

Organic cotton sateen with 300 thread count, smooth feel without being too slick

Baffle box design keeps wool distributed evenly, no shifting or clumping over time
Certifications
GOTS certified organic, OCS certified, no chemicals or synthetic treatments
Sleeping With It for Two Weeks
First couple nights felt different if you’re used to down or synthetic fill. Wool has a denser drape to it. Not heavy exactly, but it conforms to your body more than a puffy down comforter would. Took me about 3 nights to adjust.
Temperature wise, this is where it shines. My bedroom sits around 66 degrees and I usually wake up at least once feeling too warm under a regular comforter. With the myMerino, that basically stopped. The wool pulls heat away when you’re warm and insulates when you cool down. Sounds like magic but its just how the fiber works.
One thing I wasnt expecting: it doesnt really need a duvet cover. The cotton sateen shell is nice enough to use on its own. I still use one because I’m lazy about washing, but you could skip it.
What I Liked
- Temperature regulation actually works, fewer hot wake ups
- Organic materials throughout, no chemical smell out of the box
- Baffle box keeps fill from shifting around
- Cotton sateen shell feels good enough to use without a cover
- Heavier drape feels secure without being suffocating
What Could Be Better
- Takes a few nights to adjust if you’re used to down
- Price is up there compared to synthetic options
- Spot clean only for the wool fill, cant just toss it in the washer
- Only comes in natural white/ivory

Common Questions
Is this warm enough for winter?
Yes. The regular weight is designed for cooler bedrooms (60 to 68 degrees). If your room stays above 70, go with the Light version instead.
Does wool smell?
Nope. Merino wool is naturally odor resistant. Mine had zero smell right out of the packaging, which was a nice surprise.
Can I wash it at home?
Sleep & Beyond recommends spot cleaning and professional dry cleaning. You cant machine wash it without risking damage to the wool fill.
How is this different from the Light version?
The Light version has less fill and works better for warm sleepers or summer use. The regular weight has more wool for better insulation in cooler conditions.
The Verdict
The Sleep & Beyond myMerino Comforter does what it promises. Temperature regulation is legit, the organic materials feel premium, and the baffle box construction means it should hold up for years. Its not cheap, and the spot clean only care is a minor hassle. But if you’re tired of waking up sweaty under synthetic fill, this is worth the investment. The regular weight version is the right call for most people unless you consistently sleep hot year round.
