We haven’t slept on any of these. This is built from the Amazon listings (prices, ratings and claims checked in October 2026), the certifications and warranties each listing names, and patterns in owner reviews. Where something comes from the brand, we say so.

The baseline is the TEMPUR-Cloud pillow, Standard size, at $71.40 with a 4.3 rating across about 7.6K ratings. Its listing names a removable, machine washable cover, CertiPUR-US certification and a 5 year limited warranty. If the Tempur is too pricey where you shop, too firm in a cold room, or you want a pillow you can adjust, these five are the places to look. We wrote up the Tempur itself in our TEMPUR-Cloud review, and how to choose a pillow for back sleepers covers loft in more depth.

Coop is the one most people land on when a solid foam pillow feels too fixed. The fill is a blend of cross cut memory foam and microfiber (Coop calls it Oomph), and you unzip it to pull fill out for a lower loft or add it back for a higher one. The listing also warns that cooler rooms can make the foam feel firmer, which is worth knowing if your bedroom runs cold. It has a 4.5 rating from more than 64K ratings, the biggest pool here. We cover the brand more closely in is the Coop pillow worth it.

Pros

  • You can tune the loft instead of buying a new pillow
  • Biggest rating pool of the five at 4.5 stars

Cons

  • Costs a few dollars more than the Tempur-Cloud listing
  • Shredded fill can shift and needs fluffing
2

DreamyBlue sells the same basic idea as Coop at nearly the same price: a shredded memory foam blend, an easy access zipper, and a loft you can adjust. The listing leans hard on marketing language (it calls the fill revolutionary and says it feels like down while molding like memory foam), so take that with salt. What’s concrete is the 4.5 rating on about 19.9K ratings and the $75 price. If Coop is out of stock or you want a second opinion, this is the closest alternative to it.

Pros

  • Zipper lets you add or pull out fill
  • 4.5 stars on roughly 19.9K ratings

Cons

  • Nearly identical idea and price to Coop, so no savings
  • Listing copy is mostly brand claims
3

Cooling gelCertiPUR-US
This is the closest to the Tempur-Cloud in spirit, because it’s one piece of foam instead of shredded fill. Tuft & Needle says it uses its own Adaptive Foam, not latex or memory foam, infused with graphite and cooling gel, and the listing names CertiPUR-US certification, a 30 night trial and a 3 year warranty. The rating is 4.2 on 2,239 ratings, lower than the adjustable pillows, and you can’t change the loft since the foam is solid.

Pros

  • Solid foam without shredded fill shifting around
  • 30 night trial and 3 year warranty listed

Cons

  • No adjustable loft
  • 4.2 stars is lower than the Coop and DreamyBlue
4
Xtreme Comforts shredded memory foam pillow

$44.09

Under $45Adjustable
The cheapest adjustable pillow here at $44.09. The listing describes a zippered shredded foam fill you can add to or remove from, a GREENGUARD certification and a Made in USA label. One detail to check before buying: the listing title says “Pillows” in the plural, so look at the pack size on the page, because the price may cover a set. It sits at 4.2 stars on about 6.2K ratings.

Pros

  • Lowest price of the five
  • Adjustable fill through an inner zipper

Cons

  • Listing wording makes the pack size unclear
  • 4.2 stars, tied for the lowest average here

Purple Harmony cooling gel pillow in medium loft

CoolingPremium
It costs about 2.6 times the Tempur-Cloud listing and it’s a different kind of pillow: the listing describes a cooling gel construction in a medium loft, so it’s for people who run hot and want something other than foam. A 4.2 rating on roughly 7.2K ratings doesn’t justify the premium by itself. We have a full rundown of cheaper options in our Purple Harmony alternatives post.

Pros

  • Cooling gel build for hot sleepers
  • Medium loft listed

Cons

  • $188 is far more than everything else here
  • Rating is no better than the cheaper picks

Which one to pick

Start with Coop if you want an adjustable pillow and don’t mind paying $75. DreamyBlue is the backup at the same price. If you sleep hot and want a solid foam pillow, Tuft & Needle is the one with a trial period and a warranty written into the listing. Xtreme Comforts is the budget option once you confirm what’s in the box. Purple Harmony only makes sense if cooling gel is the whole point and $188 doesn’t sting.

One practical note: a trial period matters more than a rating for a pillow, since fit is personal. Of these five, only Tuft & Needle names one in the listing we checked, so for the others read the return terms on Amazon before you open the package.

Questions people ask

Is shredded memory foam firmer or softer than solid foam?

It depends on how much fill you leave in. Zippered shredded pillows let you remove foam for a lower, softer feel or keep it all for a taller, firmer one. Solid foam has one fixed shape.

Do foam pillows sleep hot?

They can. Tuft & Needle and Purple both list cooling features (graphite and gel, or cooling gel construction), but those are the brands’ claims. If heat is your main problem, our cooling sheets for hot sleepers list is a cheaper first fix.

Does the Coop listing really say cold rooms make the foam firmer?

Yes, the listing says cooler environments may make the foam feel firmer and tells you to adjust the fill accordingly.

Which of these has a sleep trial?

Tuft & Needle lists a 30 night trial and a 3 year warranty. For the others, the listings we read don’t spell out a trial, so check Amazon’s return window.
