ZEEQ Smart Pillow Discontinued See What Replaced It

Quick heads up before anything else: you cant buy a new ZEEQ smart pillow in 2026, and you probably shouldnt buy a used one either. We keep getting asked about this thing, searches for it have actually picked up again this year, so heres the full story, what it did, why it disappeared, and what to get instead for each feature you cared about.

Key Features

🔊

Built in speakers

Played music and white noise through the pillow itself, only you could hear it. The party trick that sold most units.

😴

Snore response

Detected snoring and gently vibrated to nudge you into a new position without waking your partner.

📊

Sleep tracking

Motion based tracking through the companion app, with a morning sleep score.

Smart alarm

Woke you with vibration during a light sleep window instead of a blaring phone alarm.

Our Experience

The ZEEQ launched off a big Kickstarter around 2016 and for a couple years it was the smart pillow. REM-Fit packed speakers, a snore sensor, motion tracking and a vibration alarm into a memory foam shell, and reviewers mostly liked it. Ours held up fine physically, the foam was decent if a little firm, and the speakers were genuinely useful for falling asleep to podcasts.

Then the quiet death. The pillow disappeared from retail, and the companion app stopped getting updates. Thats the part that matters if youre eyeing one on eBay right now: the app is gone from both app stores, and without it you lose the tracking, the smart alarm, the snore sensitivity settings, basically everything except Bluetooth audio passthrough. A $200 smart pillow with a dead app is a $30 pillow with speakers in it.

We tested exactly that scenario with a secondhand unit. Pairing still works as a plain Bluetooth speaker, the vibration motor does nothing without the app, and battery life on a unit thats been through years of charge cycles was about half the original spec. Not a purchase we can recommend, even cheap.

Pros & Cons

What It Got Right

  • Pillow speakers that only you hear, still a great idea
  • Vibration alarm that didnt wake a partner
  • Snore nudge worked for back sleepers in our testing

Why to Skip It Now

  • Discontinued, app pulled from stores, cloud features dead
  • Used units have tired batteries and no warranty
  • Firm feel wasnt for everyone even when new

What to Buy Instead in 2026

Each ZEEQ feature has a better standalone replacement now. For audio without disturbing a partner, sleep headphones and flat speaker headbands do the job better than embedded speakers ever did, our sleep headphones roundup covers the ones worth buying. For white noise specifically, a dedicated machine beats pillow speakers on sound quality and never needs charging, see the sound machine picks. And tracking has moved to wearables entirely, the rings and bands in our sleep tracker comparison outclass anything a pillow sensor ever produced.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the ZEEQ smart pillow still being made?

No. It was discontinued years ago and the companion app has been removed from the app stores, which kills the tracking, smart alarm and snore features.

Does the ZEEQ app still work?

Not properly. Its no longer downloadable, and users who still have it installed report the cloud sync is dead. A used ZEEQ works only as a basic Bluetooth speaker pillow.

Whats the closest thing to a ZEEQ today?

No single product does all four features. The practical combo is sleep headphones or a speaker headband for audio plus a wearable tracker, which together cost less than the ZEEQ did at launch.

Final Verdict

The ZEEQ smart pillow was ahead of its time and were a little sad it died, the snore nudge in particular never got a proper successor. But a smart product with a dead app is e-waste with good memories. Skip the eBay listings, split the features across a sleep headband and a tracker ring, and youll sleep better than any ZEEQ owner ever did.
