In Depth Review
A hybrid mattress for under $180. Thats the pitch, and honestly I was skeptical. Most mattresses in this price range are all foam and feel like sleeping on a pool float. The Neo Sleep actually has pocket coils, which changes things.
First night impressions: medium firm. Probably a 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale. The gel foam top layer gives you about an inch of sink before you hit the coils, which provide a nice pushback. If you like that “sleeping on top of the mattress” feeling rather than sinking into it, this lands in the right zone.
For back sleepers, the support is genuinely good at this price. My lower back felt supported and I didn’t wake up with that stiff, achey feeling I get from too soft beds. Side sleepers should be fine too since the foam layer provides enough pressure relief at the shoulders and hips. Stomach sleepers over 200 lbs might find it too soft, the coils arent the stiffest.
Cooling is… okay. The gel foam is noticeable the first hour but after that its just a regular mattress temperature wise. If you sleep hot, pair it with breathable sheets and you’ll be fine. It doesnt trap heat the way cheap all foam beds do, thanks to the coil layer allowing airflow underneath.
Edge support is where it loses points. Sitting on the edge of the bed, you get about 3 inches of sink. For a $180 mattress thats not unusual, but worth mentioning if you sit on the bed edge a lot.
Off gassing was barely noticeable. Slight foam smell for maybe 6 hours after unboxing, then gone. CertiPUR certification seems legit here.
What We Like
- Real pocket coils at under $180, not just stacked foam
- Medium firm feel works for back and side sleepers
- Minimal off gassing thanks to CertiPUR US cert
- Coil layer allows airflow, sleeps cooler than all foam options
What Could Be Better
- Edge support is weak, noticeable sag when sitting on the side
- Cooling gel effect fades after the first hour
- May be too soft for heavy stomach sleepers
- No handles on the sides for repositioning

Final Verdict
At $178 for a queen hybrid mattress, the Neo Sleep is punching above its weight. The pocket coil and gel foam combo delivers real support and decent cooling that all foam competitors at this price cant match. Edge support is the main weakness, and heavy stomach sleepers should probably look elsewhere. But for back and side sleepers on a budget who want a hybrid without spending $500 plus, this is one of the better options right now.
