Key Features

🌙

Schedule a White Noise Machine

Plug your white noise machine into the Plug Mini and tell it to switch on at 10:30 every night, off at 6:30 every morning. No more reaching for the dial half-asleep.

📱

Works Without a Hub

Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz built in. Pair it directly to the SwitchBot app. No bridge or extra hardware needed for basic scheduling.

🔌

Compact Footprint

Small enough that it does not block the second outlet. Useful behind a nightstand where space is tight.

🗣️

Alexa & Google Home

Voice control for “turn off the bedroom fan” type commands works fine. Latency is under a second in our testing.

Our Experience

We have used a Marpac Dohm white noise machine for years. The problem with mechanical white noise machines is that they have a physical switch, so you either leave them running 24/7 or you remember to turn them on at bedtime. Neither option is great. The Plug Mini fixes this in about ten minutes of setup.

We scheduled it to turn on at 10:00 PM and shut off at 6:30 AM, which is roughly when our morning alarm goes off. The fan-style noise comes up to speed in two seconds and the room fills with that consistent shhh that drowns out the neighbor upstairs. Six weeks in, we have not had to think about it once.

The energy monitoring is a small bonus. We were curious whether the Dohm was a power hog and it turns out it pulls about 6 watts. That is a tiny win for our power bill, but more importantly it confirmed the machine was actually running on schedule, which is reassuring when you are not in the room to check.

Pros & Cons

What We Liked

  • Set it once and forget it for nightly white noise
  • No hub required
  • Energy monitoring confirms the machine ran
  • Compact enough to leave the second outlet free

Worth Knowing

  • 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only (most routers handle this fine)
  • SwitchBot app onboarding takes a few minutes
  • Will not work with mechanical machines that need a manual hold-button start
