Key Features

🐑

Organic Merino Wool

100% certified organic wool fill wrapped in organic cotton percale. No synthetic fibers or flame retardants.

🌡️

Temperature Regulating

Wool naturally pulls moisture and dissipates heat. Cool in summer, warm in winter, less tossing.

🧼

Machine Washable

Unlike most wool toppers, this one goes in the washer on cold. Zero dry clean trips.

🌿

Nature Friendly

OEKO-TEX certified. No pesticides, no formaldehyde, no mystery chemicals in your bed.

Our Experience

We put the Sleep and Beyond wool topper on a firmer medium mattress that was running a bit hot. First night it felt like laying on a cloud that breathed. The wool fills in the pressure points without the plushness turning into memory foam sinking. Takes about a week to fully fluff and settle.

The temperature difference is real. Went from waking up sweaty at 3am to sleeping through till morning. Wool moves moisture in a way synthetic fills cant match, and you feel it even in a warm bedroom. Partner runs cold, I run hot. We both stopped fighting over the thermostat.

The washable thing is a huge deal. Most wool toppers require expensive dry cleaning or careful spot treatment. This one we have run through a regular cold wash with no pilling or flattening. Three years later it still performs like new.

Pros & Cons

What We Liked

  • Real temperature regulation, both directions
  • Machine washable, very rare for wool toppers
  • Certified organic, no chemical finishes
  • Softens a firm mattress without the sink

Worth Knowing

  • Initial wool smell fades over first week
  • Pricier than polyester toppers, though it lasts
  • Needs occasional fluffing after a wash

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it smell like sheep?

A very mild lanolin smell the first week. It airs out quickly. No chemical off gassing, which is a welcome change from synthetic toppers.

Will it make my bed hotter?

Actually the opposite for most sleepers. Wool regulates rather than insulates. We sleep cooler on it than without.

How long does it last?

Wool toppers from Sleep and Beyond typically last 7 to 10 years with proper care. Much longer than a polyester fill equivalent.

Final Verdict

If you sleep hot, want to add comfort without losing support, and care about what touches your skin for a third of your life, this is the topper. The combination of certified organic wool and machine washable care is pretty much unique in this category. Worth every dollar, and then some over its lifetime.
